Expert HR advice for SMEs across Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley

The world of HR can be a minefield - from recruitment and redundancy, absence and performance management, to grievance and staff dismissal procedures. If you are a small to medium sized business we understand that HR can be a real challenge. You'll be focusing on other priorities such as business growth, or just running your organisation. Taking your eye off the HR ball in the meantime is a mistake - so how can you overcome this?

If you are an organisation with 5-50 employees based in Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley, we are here to help, from as little as just £110 an hour or £147 a month. This is a far more cost effective solution than employing an in-house HR specialist and it saves valuable time too. Put simply, we'll ensure your business is fully compliant with current employment legislation, and identify and resolve any areas of risk. Consider the peace of mind and expertise you could gain for such a reasonable and competitive price.

We're a motivated team with decades of experience and we're used to working with a range of companies and helping them overcome their varying HR challenges. Our services are flexible and we'll help you choose the level of support that is right for you. Select from the following HR and advice support packages:

  • HR Advice Oxfordshire - Pay as you go
This is a tie-in free, pay as you go HR service. Simply pay by the hour for a qualified and experienced HR Adviser. Just get in touch as and when you need help - by telephone, by email or we can visit your premises. We'll advise you, draft letters and documents and help you run difficult employee meetings too. This service is ideal for a one off piece of advice, such as how to handle a disciplinary issue, or to provide support for a recruitment or redundancy exercise. This service is just £110 per hour and we'll invoice you monthly. It couldn't be easier.
  • Retained HR advice and support service
If you choose our second service, our HR advice line, you'll have a named HR adviser on-hand to provide you with unlimited telephone and email support during office hours. This service also protects your business from employment claims by providing access to our Tribunal Costs Insurance (£500,000 per year) and specialist legal advice. Never-ending support - and total peace of mind too.

We'll also review your employment documents (contracts, policies and handbooks) when your subscription starts so we'll make sure everything is in order from the get-go. We'll keep you updated on employment law and you'll be able to access a bank of HR templates, employers’ guides and best practice articles in our online client portal.

If you choose our retained HR advice and support service we'll act as your in-house HR managers with regular visits, staff meetings, training, recruitment, appraisals, absence management and more - all on site. Take a look at the benefits:

  • An HR professional looking after all your HR needs
  • A free HR Health Check and report
  • Unlimited access to HR and employment law advice
  • Letters to support you with complex employee issues (e.g. discipline, grievance, absence, maternity, dismissal, redundancy, capability, flexible working requests)
  • Access to our Tribunal Costs Insurance (£500,000 per year) to cover legal fees and compensatory awards
  • Preferential hourly and daily fees for all bespoke projects, tribunal preparation and work carried out at your premises
  • An annual update of all documentation in line with new legislation - plus regular newsletters and updates
  • Access to a bank of HR templates, employers’ guides and best practice articles
  • HR meetings on-site to discuss your strategy and plans

Subscriptions last one year and premiums start at just £147 per month depending on employee numbers. We can even provide HR support and advice at your premises for just £95 per hour. This is a great value for money option, providing ongoing HR advice and support, and building a longer-term relationship with you, for a highly competitive fee.

Why Critchleys for HR support and advice?

We can be your complete one stop shop for HR support and advice or you can use our services little and often. It's entirely up to you. Our experienced CIPD qualified team is always on hand to help, we have the backing of employment lawyers, plus insurance against expensive legal costs.

Why Critchleys rather than other HR consultants?

Unlike many other HR consultants we are accessible and responsive and you have a named advisor, backed up by the wider Critchleys team. We also offer legal advice through our insurers' solicitors, and all legal costs are covered.

Why Critchleys rather than a solicitor?

Solicitors are expensive and they only deal with contentious issues. We'll deal with all aspects of staff management where a solicitor can't. We'll go one step further than a solicitor and act as your trusted HR manager – holding meetings and helping to recruit and train.

Why Critchleys rather than a larger national organisation?

We offer a local and personal service. We get to know you, your company and employees and you'll get to know us! There are no call centres involved and we'll provide practical advice tailored to your business. Plus we won't lock you in to any long term contract.

With Critchleys you can even access support for auto enrolment and payroll as well as HR. It's all here for you in one easily accessible solution.
